Schedule Preview: Tri-Rivers District

As with most of the other programs in the region, not much will change here as far as scheduling goes. In the interest of rivalries that began decades ago, most of these teams have continued to play one another at least occasionally. The Franklin Broncos and Southampton Indians have a huge rivalry game every year. The Broncos also have a tension filled rivalry game yearly with the Sussex Central Tigers. As of late, the Indians vs. Park View game has become very meaningful to both teams.

Lowe Hopeful For Hokie Offer

By all accounts, Grassfield running back Vincent Lowe had a great camp at Virginia Tech. The Grizzly tailback showcased his speed and his overall football skills for the Tech coaching staff in hopes of landing one more offer before shutting down his recruitment. Lowe has quite a number of scholarship offers already, but a Hokie offer would be a difference maker.

Butler Looks For Validation At All-Star Game

Warwick quarterback Josh Butler gets one more run on the high school gridiron Friday night. The elusive Raider spent years at the high school level performing as a Michael Vick-like dual threat quarterback, plus he played an excellent cornerback as well. It wasn’t enough to land him a Division I opportunity however. Friday night is his chance to shine once more, and show schools what they missed out on.

Schedule Preview: Southeastern District

Say farewell to the districts. They officially went away last month. 2013-14 marks the first year of a new era within the VHSL. Schools will now belong to a conference, and play in a fully bracketed playoff at the state level once the postseason arrives. To keep confusion to a minium, all teams kept their former district schedules intact, and only added new out-of-district games as necessary. That means the schedule for the former Beach District teams didn’t change at all, while other teams made a few adjustments to account for their new division level.
