New Traditions For the Cavaliers

The Lakeland Cavaliers have had two very successful seasons that past two years, and they look to continue the trend upward. First year coach Bryan Potts, comes to Lakeland from cross town rival Kings Fork where he was an assistant. Coach Potts has a tough task ahead of him as the Cavaliers lost one heck of a senior class. The offense and defense both took major hits personnel-wise, but the replacements are ready to make their presence known quickly.

King’s Fork Ready For Next Step

2012 was a landmark year for football in the Peanut City. Two of the three high school teams made it to the Division 5 Eastern Region playoffs. The bad news was that Lakeland and King’s Fork had to face each other in the first round. That meant one team was definitely out, just one week in. The Bulldogs drew the short straw last year, but this year they plan a big leap forward.

Southampton Academy Ready To Follow Championship Campaign

As the Raiders are now well underway with practice, they have a hearty goal for themselves. “I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t win another state championship” said Dale Marks as he spoke with his team during a break in practice caused by a thunderstorm. Marks graduated two starters and lost another to transfer after last year’s undefeated season. That hasn’t dimmed his outlook for this year.
