From Tragedy To Triumph

September 11 is a commemoration of the thousands of innocent citizens that perished in the attack that propelled this country into a decade and a half of war. But for an area professor, September 11 also marks another tragedy as well as a celebration. Virginia State University Assistant Professor and Richmond native, Dr. Shedrick McCall Jr. celebrates twenty years of life after a helmet-to-helmet collision that ended his football career and nearly cost him his life.

Ocean Lakes Wideout Digs UVA Visit (Premium)

($$) While Saturday’s game against Oregon wasn’t a thing of beauty from a UVA standpoint, the attention received from local recruits was well worth the outing. Dozens of high school athletes were on hand for the game including Ricky Walker of Bethel, Quin Blanding of Bayside, Jamil Kamara of Bishop Sullivan, and Jaason Lewis, Jahvoni Simmons, Levontae Taylor, and Quincy Watts of Ocean Lakes.

Andrew Brown: Player of the Week

Congratulations to the Buffalo Wild Wings Player of the Week, who won on the biggest stages of all last Friday night: Andrew Brown of Oscar Smith High School. In the fan voting, led three other candidates to win the award. All of the nominees had astounding performances last week, but Brown took the prize with his impressive defensive performance in a landslide 42-2 victory over Lake Taylor.
