Freedom (Woodbridge) is on a roll with wins on the gridiron and wins in recruiting.
Their 2018 season saw the Eagles make a run for the state championship, falling just a game short as they lost to Manchester in the VHSL Class 6 state championship final.
The winning continues in the off-season as Freedom has yet another athlete making his college commitment.
On Tuesday evening, offensive lineman Vershon Lee (2020 OL 6-4 285) made the call as he selected the University of South Carolina as his college destination.

In a tweet, Lee thanked God, his family, his friends and his coaches before stating his commitment: “I’m honored to say that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of South Carolina! #Spursup #Gococks”
His commitment makes him the fifth offensive lineman commit for the Gamecocks’ recruiting class of 2020. In the Class of 2019, South Carolina signed Patriot (Nokesville) High School lineman Jakai Moore. In the 2018 class, the Gamecocks signed Potomac lineman Jesus Gibbs, but Gibbs announced a transfer before the end of his first semester at South Carolina and is now at Towson.
Lee held double digit college scholarship offers and visited South Carolina on June 7. His offer list included Virginia Tech, East Carolina, Tennessee, Pitt, NC State, and West Virginia.
