Woodbridge defensive end Jalen Howard (2019 DE 6-2 245) spent all spring accumulating college scholarship offers.
Group of Five schools and Division I FCS schools all angled to land the Woodbridge big man.
After pulling in offers from Charlotte, Buffalo, Rhode Island, Campbell, Lehigh, Villanova, St. Francis, and Sacred Heart, Howard committed to Villanova on Monday.
“I visited Villanova last week and came home and committed a couple days later,” said Howard. “The campus was beautiful. The coaches are all so enthusiastic and they made me feel wanted there. Also it’s the number one business school and that’s what I want to major in.”
It was Howard’s first visit to the campus and it obviously made a impact on him.
“I’m happy to be a Wildcat and I’m ready to work,” he said.
The first offer for Howard came from Sacred Heart on January 19. The offer from Villanova came only three weeks ago. From the first offer to his commitment, his recruitment took all of five months.
Before heading off to Villanova, Jalen has some work to do with Woodbridge. The Vikings are loaded once again, and they’re looking to avenge a State Semifinal loss to Westfield from 2017. Westfield has won the Class 6 state title for three years running. Jalen Howard and the Woodbridge Vikings look to end that streak on the first Saturday in early December.
