Summer has been good so far for Jonathan Mulatu (2019 RB 6-0 195).
Since the start of June, Mulatu has picked up six new scholarship offers.
Lehigh, Delaware, Elon, JMU, Lafayette and Georgetown have offered in the past few weeks, and Harvard offered Thursday afternoon. Georgetown doesn’t offer athletic scholarships, and neither does an Ivy League school like Harvard. Either way, those are all opportunities to play Division I football, and you can bet academic money is there for him if he needs it.
“The coaches at Harvard think I’m a great football player that can contribute to their program and provide for their offense,” said Mulatu. “The coaches at Georgetown love my versatility, and Coach Ryan Smith at Elon loves my running style. Coach A.J. Reisig (Cornerbacks/Recruiting Coordinator) at Lehigh is recruiting me and they love my play making ability.”
Mulatu has had a busy year so far. He has visited JMU, Georgetown, Towson, and Virginia Tech. He has also camped at JMU, UVA, and Virginia Tech.
“I really like all of the colleges I’ve visited. I’m going for an official visit to Georgetown soon. I also plan to visit Lafayette, Penn and Yale,” Mulatu reported.
In addition to the schools who have offered this month, Mulatu also holds offers from Towson, Fordham, Yale, and New Hampshire.
“I think Penn, Princeton and Stony Brook are close to offering. I’d love to get an offer from Virginia Tech and UVA,” Jonathan said. “(I will) probably choose the college that has a great coaching staff and makes me feel at home.”
At any rate, Jonathan has plenty of good options and his academics obviously put him in an excellent position when it comes to earning more offers. College coaches love to coach smart players, and guys who will bring up the football programs average GPA are a big bonus.
His junior season proved a lot. In 2017, he was selected as a First Team All-National District running back and punter after posting 1611 rushing yards on 193 carries to go along with 10 catches for 139 receiving yards and a total of 20 touchdowns on the season.
Expect even more production in his senior season.
