Chantilly lineman James Pogorelc (2020 OT 6-7 270) has had a busy off-season.
He topped the 20 offer mark last month with the addition of offers from East Carolina, Illinois, Indiana, and Syracuse.
This past week, he picked up offers from UCLA and Rutgers. The UCLA offer was most notable since it’s coming from the other side of the country and from a coaching staff that has had been less involved with James up until this point.
“UCLA is a fantastic school and a great program,” Pogorelc said. “I haven’t visited UCLA yet, will definitely want to get out there though. I’m working on setting officials. Right now, I’m going to focus primarily on Indiana, Illinois, UCLA, Syracuse, Harvard and Princeton.”
James’ size speaks for itself. He’s coming into his senior season as a 270-pound, 6-foot 7-inch offensive lineman. That kind of size is hard to come by. His academics opens doors as well.
Pogorelc boasts a 4.0 grade point average, and on his last SAT’s scored a 1470 (out of a possible 1600). He has also earned 34 on the ACT exam.
“The three most important things to me are: high academics, competitive level of football and how well I see myself fitting into the team dynamic,” said Pogo of his potential college destination.
Battlefield linebacker Matt Binkowski (2021 LB 6-1 220) was a bright spot for Battlefield in his sophomore season.
His value as a college prospect was officially recognized in late July when he added his first college scholarship offer, and it came from Rutgers.

Binkowski’s spring and summer have included stops at Virginia Tech, Virginia and William and Mary. The Rutgers offer came immediately after a visit to the campus and the Scarlet Knights football facilities.
