With two offers in hand, Khalid Williams (2020 WR 6-2 195) hit the field at the St. James on Sunday with the goal of showcasing his skill.
“I’m ready to get some work in today,” said Khalid. “One-on-ones, in the drills, I’m ready to compete against the highest competition.”
The Nike Opening Regional certainly provides that opportunity.
Williams claims a personal best 4.54 forty and his junior season stats are impressive: 39 catches for 506 yards and three TDs.
He has high aspirations for his senior season.
“I’m looking for at least 1,000 yards, probably about 60 catches and I’d say ten touchdowns.”
That would certainly put him on the map coming from a team that went 5-5 in the regular season in 2018. In order to impact his recruitment with the big boys, he needs to impress now. That means visits and college camp work.
Williams holds offers from Bryant and William and Mary. He’s pulling interest from a lot of other schools, and he’s hoping to seal the deal on offers with his work in the coming months.
“Kent State, University of Virginia… I’m hearing from Towson, William and Mary of course, ODU, Richmond,” Williams recalled. “I Just finished up my visits… junior days and whatnot. I know I’m planning for Wake Forest camp, Kent State camp, and probably Penn State.”
His dream school? That’s Wake Forest.
Williams is developing a relationship with Wake Forest assistant coach Nick Tabacca and he’s hopeful that offer will come after a solid camp effort.
