We’ve been touting Javon Swinton since his sophomore season.
He has shined as a top prospect at our recruit757/Sparta Science Showcase at Redskins Park in March. Swinton (2020 WR 6-1 160) came into that showcase with offers from Marshall, UVA, ODU and UMass. He continued to draw more offers as the spring turned to summer. Offers from Indiana, Wake Forest, Rutgers, South Carolina and Syracuse were among those that followed.
At the beginning of July, Swinton determined that he would cut his list to Wake Forest and Indiana. On Thursday, he committed to the Hoosiers.
According to North Stafford assistant coach John Harris, Swinton fell in love with the Indiana campus and he sees himself as an immediate contributor to their football program. In addition to his skill on the gridiron, Javon is a big contributor to the North Stafford basketball team.
“Javon is the ultimate team player. He can play man defense at an elite level as a corner, he can stretch a defense as a wide receiver can even play quarterback if asked to,” Harris said. “He’s a natural leader that never misses practice or workouts. It’s like having a coach on the field.”
That will certainly make him an attractive addition to the Indiana football program.

The most recent high profile Indiana recruit from the Commonwealth of Virginia was Hopewell running back Ronnie Walker, who was the Hoosiers’ top signee from the recruiting class of 2018. Indiana has 14 verbal commitments for their recruiting class of 2020.
