Opposing high school coaches don’t like to hear that Tai Felton (2021 WR 6-0 160) still has two years to play with the Bulldogs.
“He killed us last year,” said one coach at the recruit757/Sparta Science Showcase.
Felton blazed a 4.42 forty in the combine section of the day’s events, proving that his speed is one of his greatest assets.
recruitNoVA correspondent Jim McGrath got to talk to Tai about the day.
“There’s a lot of competition out here. I’m excited,” he said. “I’ve been working on my route running all off season. Leadership and play making skills (are something to work on). I want to make bigger plays in bigger games.”
There’s no bigger stage than the state championship game. Though Stone Bridge fell to Highland Springs in the VHSL Class 5 State Championship last December, Felton did plenty of damage including five receptions for 136 yards and two touchdowns.
“Throughout the off season, we (Stone Bridge) are getting a lot stronger and a lot faster. We have a lot of athletes. We can match up with the athletes we had last year.”
Felton received his first college scholarship offer (Virginia Tech) almost immediately after his state championship game performance and he’s has visited Blacksburg this spring, showing great interest in the Hokies.
As a sophomore, Felton earned a First Team All-State selection in 2018 after snagging 50 receptions for 1037 yards in 15 games.
His spring camp schedule will include stops at the Nike Opening Regional and the Under Armour Region in the coming weeks.
