by Andy Hilton, recruitNoVA
Our #19 athlete in the recruitNoVA Fab 30 countdown has already made his college choice. He recently committed to Maryland, along with his teammate, running back Jordan Houston.
Heading into the regular season, we recognize the top 30 senior prospects in all of Northern Virginia. That’s a tall task, considering that we track the talent at 86 high school programs in the region. Coming into our countdown as the #19 senior prospect region-wide is Flint Hill safety Trey Rucker.
#19 Trey Rucker (2019 S 6-1 195) – Flint Hill School
Rucker had a fantastic recruitment, running up an offer list that included Maryland, North Carolina, UVA, Wake Forest, Indiana, Purdue, Temple, Kent State, and JMU.
Trey was a key member of a Flint Hill squad that ran the table in 2017, including a state championship game win that gave the Huskies a perfect season, and the VISAA Division I State Championship.
In his junior season, Trey was a First Team VISAA Division I All-State selection. In 11 games, he tallied 55 tackles, three INT, four TFL, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He was also an asset in the return game for the Huskies.
To add to those stats, at the Nike Opening Regional, he posted stellar times, including a 4.60 forty, a 4.46 pro shuttle, a 38 inch vertical leap and a 38 foot power ball toss.
With the commitment to Maryland, the Terps get a solid prospect to add to their DB corps. With his selection to the recruitNoVA Fab 30, we’ve marked him as a player to watch heading into his senior season.
