ODU Football has landed another hometown commitment

The Old Dominion Football program has a hometown advantage.
The 757 is rich in football talent. Head Coach Bobby Wilder knows that if he can tap into a percentage of the area’s home grown talent each year, even more fans will be drawn to the football program and it’s almost a certainty that the team will be better.
The Monarchs now have two locals verbally committed in the current recruiting class. Franklin wide receiver Drelyn Ford committed earlier in June. On Monday, Lake Taylor defensive back Javon Harvey (2019 DB/WR 6-0 175) committed to ODU.
“The relationship me and Coach (Kermit) Buggs has is tremendous. ODU is great program with great coaches who are building up their program and I’m 100% ready to bring (my talents) to the table. Also, I want to play for my STATE!,” Harvey exclaimed via Facebook message.

At Lake Taylor, Harvey has seen some time at quarterback, and that command of the playing field will serve him well at Old Dominion, even on the defensive side of the ball.
The Monarchs offered Harvey a little more than four weeks ago. In addition to the offer from Old Dominion, Harvey held offers from Chattanooga, Hampton, Towson, Saint Francis, Western Illinois, and UVA-Wise.
