It takes a lot to prove dominance in the game of football. Many times that measured by wins. For many players, it’s often measured statistically by touchdowns, yardage, tackles or interceptions. Blessed Sacrament – Huguenot lineman Luke Freudenthal can point to his post-season accolades and claim dominance. In his junior season, Freudenthal was selected by the coaches of VISAA Division III as a first team All-State lineman on both the offense and the defense.
Heading into the regular season, we recognize the top 30 senior prospects in and around the city of Richmond. Continuing our countdown as the 25th best senior prospect region-wide is Blessed Sacrament – Huguenot lineman Luke Freudenthal.
#25 Luke Freudenthal (2019 WR/DB 6-3 295) – Blessed Sacrament – Huguenot
Blessed Sacrament barely made the VISAA Division III playoffs in 2017. They finished the regular season with a 4-5 record, and they squeaked in as a No. 4 seed to play eventual state champion Roanoke Catholic in the state semifinal. Freudenthal earned his reputation last year as the anchor lineman on a team that truly needed him to be a foundation for the offense and the defense.
Freudenthal has been gathering interest and taking visits, most notably to James Madison, Elon, Bucknell and the University of Virginia this spring and summer. More accolades are sure to come his way, as will scholarship offers. You have to look no further than his older brother Jack Freudenthal, who’s now a redshirt junior tight end at Wake Forest, to see that football is in the blood. A future role in a Power Five football program is certainly not out of the question for Luke.
Playing at Blessed Sacrament – Huguenot may make Luke Freudenthal a little harder for college coaches to find, but there’s no doubt he’s making his mark.
