Our #25 player in our Fab 30 rankings of senior athletes in Northern Virginia played at Riverbend High School last season. He’s had a busy spring and summer so far, but he’s not going far to play his senior year. He transferred just down the road to Massaponax High School.
Heading into the regular season, we recognize the top 30 senior prospects in all of Northern Virginia. That’s a tall task, considering that we track the talent at 86 high school programs in the region. Coming into our countdown as the 25th best senior prospect region-wide is Massaponax lineman Teagan McDonald.
#25 Teagan McDonald (2019 OT 6-4 310) – Massaponax High School
As a junior, Teagan was a first-team, Class 6 Region B selection as a left tackle for a Riverbend team that lost to Manchester in the regional playoffs. McDonald is adept as a run blocker and pass protection and has great footwork to stay on his blocks.
McDonald’s weight room achievements speak for themselves. He boasts a 360-bench press and posted a 410-pound squad. He posted a best of 305 pounds in the power clean.
His recruitment was interesting, with offers coming from Georgetown, Lehigh and Old Dominion before he committed to ODU earlier this summer. He courted heavy interest from Elon, Temple, Monmouth and William and Mary, among others.
In addition to hitting the weight room hard, Teagan has hit the books hard as well. McDonald holds a 4.19 GPA heading into his senior year.
