Oscar Smith running back Taeron Richardson (2021 RB 5-7 200) has broken the ice with an offer from Central State.
Central is the new home of Head Coach Bobby Rome, who cut his teeth in the 757 as a defensive back at Granby. He went on to college football glory at UNC, played a few years in the NFL, and his college coaching resume has grown from there.
“I’ve been working so hard and a long time to get at least one opportunity to play football at the next level. I believe more will come. I’ve been through so much and I have to prove the doubters wrong. I know it’s my senior year so it’s all or nothing (from here),” Richardson reported on Thursday.

The Oscar Smith Tigers have been keeping their skills warm with a modified team in Friday night’s 7-on-7 league at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex. Taeron has been able to showcase some skill there, but he’s still anxious to have an impact in his senior season once the helmet and pads come on.
“Our first game is scheduled for February and there’s no doubt I’ve been working on my craft,” Taeron said. “I can’t wait to showcase my talent. This 7v7 isn’t enough.”
So Richardson is hungry. He’ll very likely wait to make a commitment. He certainly hasn’t taken his foot off the gas.
