In Class 5, Princess Anne was headed toward yet another state championship in girls’ basketball before the threat of Coronavirus ended the tournament early. Officially, Cavaliers ended the season by sharing the state championship with Highland Springs.
The 2020 post-season became one that was dedicated to Class of 2019 Stallion Ashley “A.J.” James, who died accidentally on the night of the Region 5A championships. James was the older brother of the All-State Class 5 Player of the Year.
The VHSL Class 5 All-State Girls Basketball teams were selected by coach representatives of each region of Class 5. No Coach of the Year was selected.
