Poquoson defensive end and full back Grayson Boyce has worked hard this offseason. He’s bulked up to about 240 pounds, adding muscle which will serve him well in his senior season. His size and football abilities also serve him well in his hunt for college scholarships. Grayson added another offer last week, bringing him to three, with more on the way.
Indian River lineman Tyler Fain is gathering lots of attention. Since blue chipper Andrew Brown left for Oscar Smith, Fain has stepped in as the dominant presence on the Braves line. He doesn’t have the name awareness that Brown built, but Fain is turning heads and causing college coaches to take notice.
The Captains closed out their recruiting for the high school class of 2013 when they added Green Run cornerback DeQuan Edwards to the fold. Recruiting happened late for the speedy DB, but all worked out for the school and the recruit.
It was just yesterday that we were sharing the good news of Michael Wyche’s progression from high school lineman to junior college “hot prospect”. Today, he picked up a college offer in his own backyard. It was an offer he couldn’t refuse.
Phoebus lineman Walter Brantley can’t wait for the day when he’s the BMOC. For those of you not picking up what I’m putting down, that’s “big man on campus”. ($$) When you’re hot, you’re hot, and Bethel lineman Ricky Walker is ON FIRE! The Bruin big man has been adding offers at the rate of almost one a week since National Signing Day. He picked up a new offer today from a highly regarded ACC school.
($$) Bayside athlete Quin Blanding comes across as a young man who has it all together. The rising senior is the leader of his team. He’s made his college commitment to Virginia. Quin has already participated in the annual Gridiron Kings event in Florida, a showcase for rising senior recruits. He officially earned his invite to Nike’s The Opening, and he did it in a very business-like fashion. That should be no surprise for those that know him.
($$) Lake Taylor athlete Jalyn Holmes continues to see his stock skyrocket. Holmes was a top performer at last Sunday’s Nike Football Training Camp, fitting in perfectly with top national defensive line prospects Andrew Brown and D’Shawn Hand.
