More Players Added To!

We’ve added another group of talented local players from The 757. We toured the region in August, and we’ve seen a lot of football already in the first few weeks of the sesaon. There are now 135 more players in the recruit757 database. We’re continuously on the lookout for more players that are growing into their varsity role. Tomorrow’s stars are here today on recruit757.

Maury’s Taylor Hits National Stage

Today, Yahoo Sports’ whimsical look at High School Football Highlights called “Prep Rally” featured Maury athlete Davion Taylor’s 99-yard run for a touchdown during a kickoff return against Lakeland. The return was exciting and it made the game closer for the Commodores, though they lost to the Cavaliers on Friday night. The article writer may have gotten his geography confused a bit, but the highlight is spectacular.

Swinson Wins Player Of The Week

Congratulations to this week’s Freedom Ford Player of the Week, Shyheim Swinson of Landstown High School. In the fan voting, Swinson edged Oscar Smith Quarterback Dashawn Blow by a total of eight votes. All of the nominees had astounding performances last week, but Swinson took the prize with his performance in an impressive win over Princess Anne High School.

Spearman Picks Ivy

Grafton Athlete Marcus Spearman has been making headlines for several years now. Coming into his senior season, he already had several options for college, but one kept calling to him. He’s a smart kid with a 4.4 GPA. He has book smarts, football smarts, leadership skills, and a knack for being a playmaker. That combination led him to one of the ultimate choices for college on the East Coast.

Granby Leaps Ahead With Key Win Over Woodbridge

Special seasons have a moment where a team can look back and see the turning point. On Friday night, Granby may have had their moment. The Comets came into the game with a 2-0 record and something to prove against Woodbridge of the Northwest Region. The Vikings brought in their blue chip lineman, DaShawn Hand, who’s ranked by many as the #1 recruit in the nation for the Class of 2014. Granby overcame the hype, and their own mistakes, to close the game out with decisive plays that earned them the win.

Beach District Recap

The Ocean Lakes Dolphins continued to impress Friday night, manhandling the Marlins 45 – 0. The Fins scored on each of their first half possessions with Brandon Simmons scoring once, Mike Dunston twice, and QB Corwin Cutler hooking up with both Mike Alston and Andre Dessenberg through the air. By halftime, Ocean Lakes had opened a 31 – 0 lead, and never looked back.
