Historic Start Has People Talking About Churchland

Being undefeated four games into the season is a feat for any team. The feeling for Churcland High School is a little different. It has been over forty years since the likes of any coach has driven the Truckers to a 4-0 start. This record has been broken as third year Coach Alonzo Ricks has taken a team that is full of young raw talent, to the top of the standings. The Truckers have beaten two Bay Rivers teams in Warhill and York. In spite of also beating Nansemond River and Granby, the Truckers have a lot to prove still but are off to a start that not even the most hopeful of fans expected.

Powell Makes ACC Commitment

Big time 804 recruit and perennial top defensive lineman Tyler Powell verbally committed to the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Monday night. With the commitment, the Tar Heels get a powerful and amazingly agile defensive lineman capable of clogging up the middle as well as bringing outside pressure. Quick hands and feet make blocking this defensive lineman a nightmare for centers, offensive guards, and tackles.

804 Takes On 757 At HU 7 on 7

Three teams from the 804 battled this past weekend at Hampton University’s Battle by the Bay 7v7 Tournament. The Dinwiddie Generals, Hermitage Panthers, and John Marshall Justices battled teams from the 757, Roanoke, and Maryland in a 7 vs. 7 football tournament. All teams were required to play a five game regular season in order to determine seeding in the single elimination playoffs.

Virginia’s Best Gathers In The 804

A few scattered showers in the morning gave way to a sunny and picture perfect day for football in the Richmond area. Over 150 athletes descended this past Saturday on Highland Springs HS for the annual College Prep World (CPW) Camp and Symposium. Dwight Vick and the team put on a great camp that allowed athletes to challenge themselves in the 40 yard dash, the bench press, and the shuttle. Additionally, the athletes showcased their talents in 1 on 1 action: offensive lineman versus defensive lineman; receivers versus defensive backs, and running backs versus linebackers.
