In the announcement video on Twitter, Isi Etute (2021 OLB 6-2 205) led off with thanking his family for love and support. He continued with thanks to others, then made his announcement.
“Much love to the city of Virginia Beach, the 757 will always be home. Much appreciation to every single coach who has taught me the game of football, and that has helped me become the player that I am today. Lastly, I am forever grateful to every single college that has believed in my talent and that has given me the opportunity to play football at the Division I level. It has been a great journey, but now it is time to start a new chapter,” said Etute.
“I will be pursuing my athletic and academic career at Virginia Tech,” Etute stated plainly. “Go Hokies.”
Etute will join Tayvion Robinson in Blacksburg and he’ll become the first recruit from the Class of 2021 from the 757 to commit to Virginia Tech. He is the fourth in-state prospect in the Class of 2021 to commit to Virginia Tech following North Stafford DB Shawn Asbury, Patriot DB Jalen Stroman and Thomas Jefferson (Richmond) wide receiver Jaylen Jones.
Isi’s offer list held 13 schools, including Vanderbilt, UVA, West Virginia, NC State, Wake Forest, East Carolina, Old Dominion, Appalachian State and Liberty.
