Heritage QB Darius Price commits to Virginia State

George Massenburg and his men over at 5800 Marshall Avenue have an offense that has been predicated on consistent quarterback play over the last handful of years. Throughout his tenure with Heritage, Jeremiah Boyd was one of the best pro-style quarterbacks in the Peninsula District. Boyd signed his National Letter of Intent to attend the Naval Academy on the afternoon of February 6, 2017. What this did was pave the way for second-year quarterback Darius Price to step from under the shadow of his predecessor and lead the Hurricanes to two-consecutive playoff appearances.
Price (2019 QB 6-0 185) picked up his second offer in mid-November from Virginia State after being recruited by John Davis and the Apprentice School. Late last week, the Heritage product made the decision to commit to the Trojans and announced it via social media just one day after National Signing Day.
“The overall deciding factor was I have a goal in mind of what I plan on doing at VSU and I did my research,” Price told recruit757. “I also asked around about the experience for people at VSU. The majority of responses were positive and it was what I was looking for.”
The Trojans are trying to pick up the pieces after finishing 4-5 last season just a year removed from finishing 10-1. Price will enter Virginia State next season as the program’s only freshman quarterback. The Trojans currently have four signal callers on their roster two of which will be seniors by the time next season rolls around. Cordelral Cook received the most looks this past season playing in all nine games and finishing the year with 1,893 passed yards and 16 touchdowns to go along with nine interceptions.
Now that the recruiting process has concluded for Darius Price, all eyes will now shift to the speedy running back in Trevon Faison (2019 ATH 5-7 155). The Heritage product picked up All-District recognition in November and has accumulated offers from Thiel, Christopher Newport and the Apprentice School. Faison’s most recent official visit came on January 28 as the Apprentice School laid out a hearty welcome. A commitment out of Faison for John Davis and company could give the Builders one of the better pass-catching running backs in the Peninsula District.
