Frostburg State picks up a commitment from Doug Pruim
by Andy Hilton, recruit757
We’ve seen a lot of Doug Pruim (2021 C/LS 6-2 280) since the 2019 football season.
Doug showed his skills at the recruit757 Senior Showcase at the Virginia Beach Field House last January. At that event, Class of 2020 athletes were competing for a last chance at scholarships, and Doug was in the crop of juniors who wanted to get a head start on his recruitment.
Who know then that COVID-19 would practically shut down all sports just six weeks later.
Since that time, we’ve seen Doug at a recruit757 Spotlight camp and Clash of the Titans event over the summer. He made college visits as the summer wound down and fall kicked in. Doug made connections with college coaches and kept his recruitment going in spite of the shutdown that saw his senior season get postponed.
On New Year’s Eve, he published his commitment to Frostburg State, using an announcement that he had written on Christmas Day.
“The recruiting process has been a difficult journey, especially through this strange and surprising year that seems to never end. That being said, I have made my decision. I am 100% committed to Frostburg State University to further my academic and athletic career!! GO BOBCATS!!”

In Frostburg, Doug joins a program that was 8-3 in 2019, their first year playing in Division II. In the 2018 season Frostburg finished with a 10-1 record. That team’s first loss of the 2018 season came to Johns Hopkins, who made it all the way to the Division III semifinal.
There’s a 757 connection at Frostburg in the form of tight ends/fullbacks coach Scott Fahey. Fahey is a Hickory grad and also an alum of recruit757 camps. After his junior season in high school, Fahey traveled to Phoenix to compete at the Junior Rank National Combine, which was connected to the U.S. Marine Corps All-American Game.
With Fahey on the coaching staff, Frostburg State has turned more attention toward recruiting the 757. Fahey recruits the region for Frostburg.
