University of North Carolina assistant coach Dre Bly is certainly working the home turf.
The Tar Heels have added a second commitment from the 757 for the recruiting class of 2022 with the addition of Green Run cornerback Tayon Holloway (2022 CB 6-0 170).
“Thank you to all the colleges who recruited me. It’s been a long journey. I am very grateful and thankful for my family, coaches and teammates for their support,” said Holloway in a Twitter announcement. “It’s time. I’m going home and I’m 100% committed to the University of North Carolina.”
Tayon is originally from Kinston, North Carolina, but he has lived most of his life in Virginia Beach.
We caught up with him in November at Stack Sports’ Elite 11 camp in Virginia Beach.
Holloway is the second 757 athlete to join North Carolina this month. Princess Anne running back Tychaun Chapman committed to the Tar Heels last weekend. Tayon is the fourth athlete from the 757 that Coach Bly has successfully recruited to the school following Chapman, his former teammate Tony Grimes (part of the 2020 recruiting class) and Oscar Smith quarterback/safety Cam Kelly, who enrolled early at Auburn before transferring to UNC in 2019.
His offer list included 14 schools. On November 20, he narrowed his options to six schools, including North Carolina, Florida State, Maryland, Penn State, Pittsburgh, and Virginia Tech,
