Landstown defensive back Joe White has been quietly generating college interest and grabbing college offers. The 2018 grad is one of the “next in line” for making big moves as a part of the rising senior class in the 757.
Some of his best work comes on the defensive side of the ball, but as a wide receiver for Landstown, White (JR DB/WR 6-1 180) caught 38 balls for 780 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in his junior season.
UVA assistant coaches Marques Hagans and Nick Howell made the offer to White on Tuesday afternoon giving him seven college scholarship offers now.
“I’ve been communicating with them a lot and they said they really like my style of play,” White stated. They like what I can offer so they gave me a full ride and want me to come to Charlottesville on the 4th of March.”
With a visit in the works to UVA, Joe will have a busy schedule for the next few weekends.
“I’m headed to NC State this weekend and Charlotte on the 25th,” he said.
White’s offer list now includes UNC, Charlotte, NC State, UVA, East Carolina, Old Dominion and Buffalo. Joe was one of several players in the 757 landing an offer from Buffalo now that the Bulls coaching staff is looking to continue their recruiting success in the region.
As for UVA, the offers are trickling out now since the coaching staff has wrapped up the Class of 2017. The Cavaliers may not have landed any players from the 757 in the most recent recruiting class, but there should be no doubt that they are working to get the right players up to Charlottesville for the Class of 2018. Head Coach Bronco Mendenhall has a rebuilding project underway, and he’s seeding the program with talent that fits his mold. Obviously Joseph White is one of those kind of guys.
