North Carolina State became the first to jump on board for a Tallwood junior. Christian Byrum has put in the work on a Tallwood team that struggled last year. Byrum camped last summer as a sophomore, led his defense from the safety position, and now he’s getting the recruiting attention. That first offer is a big one.

The 2013 NFL Scouting Combine got underway today, featuring no less than five players with local ties. The biggest bragging rights go to Ocean Lakes High School. The Dolphins have three alumni competing in the Combine: Justin Hunter (Tennessee), Shamarko Thomas (Syracuse), and Marcus Davis (Virginia Tech).
