The air in Portsmouth was screaming for a football game to be played, and boy was football played. The I.C. Norcom Greyhounds hosted the Maury Commodores in an Eastern District showdown. The Greyhounds were 2-0 coming into the game and the main goal was to extend the early season win streak. On the other side of the ball, the Maury Commodores were 2-1 and were ready to begin their Eastern District schedule with a win.

Bethel knocked Woodside off in a defensive battle, upping their record to 3-1 while Woodside fell to 3-1. Bishop Sullivan topped Nansemond-Suffolk in a TCIS battle of undefeateds.
