Mike Green picks UVA as his college destination

After receiving scholarship offers from the Big 12, the SEC, and several ACC schools among others, Lafayette wide receiver Mike Green (2021 WR/OLB 6-4 215) has picked the University of Virginia.
Green committed to assistant coach Marques Hagans and Cavaliers head coach Bronco Mendenhall on Thursday.
While opportunities for wide receivers to make big plays are somewhat limited in Coach Andy Linn’s ground-and-pound offense, Green has a definite impact in all phases of the game for the Rams.
He’s a favorite target of quarterback Luke Hanson, and defensively he rolled up 70 tackles in 11 games last season. In that 70 were nine sacks and eight tackles for a loss. Green also recovered four fumbles and on special teams he blocked four kicks.

Green held offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Old Dominion, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Temple, UMass, Appalachian State, East Carolina, Western Kentucky, Liberty, Buffalo, Syracuse, James Madison, Kent State, Boston College and Pitt.
There’s one intriguing factor in Green’s recruitment: Hanson, his quarterback at Lafayette, is a Class of 2022 commit to UVA for baseball.
Green becomes the first Power Five commitment for Lafayette since the 2017 class that included wide receiver Hezekiah Grimsley (Virginia Tech). Linebacker Chase Pine committed to Pitt in Lafayette’s 2016 graduation class.
