More offers are coming for the top athletes of the region

While many smaller schools showed recruiting movement last week, there were still a number of offers made to Northern Virginia players from the FBS and FCS ranks.
Gobaira Offered by Louisville Cardinals
Chantilly’s Aiden Gobaira may have fielded the most prominent offer, as the Chargers’ weak-side defensive end was offered by Louisville of the ACC. Gobaira (c/o 2022, 6-5 225) has become familiar with big-time looks, as Notre Dame and Penn State are currently on his “warm” list of suitors, with Arizona State and Nebraska also among the 17 schools who have shown enough interest to verbally offer.
Kaiser Offered by UNCC 49ers
Jaime Kaiser (c/o 2023, 6-5 195), the potential heir apparent to Billy Edwards’ quarterback spot at Lake Braddock, has also received an offer, with Charlotte of Conference USA, making its presence known.
It would seem amazing for an FBS school to offer a sophomore who has yet to play any significant amount of time on the high school gridiron. However, Kaiser is not the typical football player, and to date has shown more prowess in basketball, where he was a Washington Post honorable mention All-Met as a freshman.
Also, the 49ers might not have to wait long to see Kaiser in action. Edwards has been called the Monarchs quarterback of the future, and with ODU being one of only three D-1 teams to not play a fall or spring season, the possibility of Edwards beginning his college career in the spring could vault Kaiser to immediate starter status – depending on whether he plays baseball this spring.
The variables will all fall into place over the course of the next few months, and it will be interesting to see if Charlotte is making a solid gamble by offering the Bruin sophomore.
Plummer Also Targeted by Monarchs
ODU coach Ricky Rahne continues to spray his influence throughout Northern Virginia and recently offered a football scholarship to Episcopal athlete Jaiven Plummer (c/o 2022 6-3 195). Without a 2020-21 season to prepare for, Rahne and his staff are meticulously planning for the fall 2021 season and beyond, and Plummer’s list of schools (Boston College, Duke, N.C. State, Rutgers, among others) make him an interesting prospect.
Patterson and Cammas Targeted by FCS Teams
Two Northern Virginian players, including one from the area’s newest team, have received offers from two FCS teams.
Griffin Patterson (c/o 2021 6-5 220), the tight end and defensive end from last year’s upstart Independence High squad, has received an offer from Towson of the FCS Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).
And Ryan Cammas (5-11 180), Paul VI senior quarterback, received an offer from the Bryant University Bulldogs of the Northeast Conference. The Bulldogs, who are based out of Smithfield, Rhode Island, finished the 2019 season with a 4-8 mark.
