For many high school football fans, this will be a rough upcoming week, one which will not see the crowning of six state champions, as the truncated season is currently pushed back to an early 2021 start.
But even with less data and film to go by, hundreds of college football coaches are extending offers of holiday cheer to many players in the Northern region. Here are some of them:
McCann Receives Three
Riverside lineman Matthew McCann (c/o 2021, 6-3 265) has picked up a trio of offers in December, and his interest comes from both sides of the country, with Richmond, Monmouth, and the University of San Diego all reaching out to the All-Loudoun County guard and center.
Blessed and excited to say that I have received an offer to play football at the University of Richmond! Thank you so much @SpiderFootball @CoachAnthonyFB for this amazing opportunity!@CoachLB_RHS_FB @andrejones1185 pic.twitter.com/imbs50VCO3

VMI Offers A Double Dose of Andrew
The Keydets have extended offers to a pair of Andrew’s.
The first is James Monroe left tackle Andrew Williams (c/o 2021 6-4 230). Williams, an all-region selection for the Yellow Jackets has the academic grit for VMI (3.9 GPA), as well as a solid frame to bolster the front line. For an added bonus, Williams is also world ranked in judo.
Excited to have earned an offer from Virginia Military Institute! Big thanks to @Coach_Conte for the opportunity!! #21GUNS @CoachMooreVMI @CoachSWach @VMI_Football @CoachP_eterson @kettle_run pic.twitter.com/52RvE1h906

Adding to the mix is the standout kicker and punter from Kettle Run, Andrew Piercy. Piercy (c/o 2021, 6-2 180) is also an exceptional student (4.5 GPA) and his kicking skills are superior. In one clip on his Twitter account (@AndrewPiercy85), Piercy is seen booting a 46-yard field goal, a 43-yard punt with 4.6 hang time, and a 70-yard kickoff.
Billy Wiles adds Clemson PWO and Old Dominion
Stone Bridge quarterback Billy Wiles, a Tulane commit, picked up a preferred walk-on opportunity from Clemson this week. By the end of the week he had added a scholarship offer from Old Dominion. Wiles remains committed to Tulane. While the offer by the Monarchs might seem like a reach, it may not be, because —

Billy Edwards Decommits from ODU
In a surprise move, Lake Braddock QB Billy Edwards (c/o 2021 6-3 210) has announced his decommitment from Old Dominion.
Edwards, who was seen by some as the Monarchs quarterback of the future, took to Twitter on Thursday with the announcement, Part of it read – “after long thought, prayer, and discussion with my family, I feel it is in my best interest to de-commit from ODU.”

There has been no word yet of another offer upending the one from Coach Ricky Rahne and the Monarch staff. You can be certain that Edwards didn’t terminate his commitment to Old Dominion without another opportunity to replace it. We expect word on a new commitment from Edwards in the coming days. The Early Signing Period is right around the corner and he should be taking part with a yet to be announced destination.
