Remi Johnson and Jordan Woodson commit to Monmouth, new offers arrive for others
A sweep through the ranks of Northern Virginia high school teams has turned up a number of offers in the past week, with three Big Five offers going to one player who has been turning up a lot on these pages lately. But first – a pair of commitments headlined the activities of the past seven days.
Double Trouble for Monmouth Hawks as Remi Johnson and Jordan Woodson Commit
The FCS squad from the Jersey shore gained a dose of NoVA flavor last week as both Lake Braddock’s Remi Johnson and Liberty-Bealeton’s Jordan Woodson announced their verbal commitment to the Hawks.
For Monmouth coach Kevin Callahan, the pair will make a welcome addition for his Big South champion team (11-3 in 2019) as they await a potential spring season.
Johnson (2021 OLB/SS 6-2 210) brings the force of a sledgehammer to the strong safety, along with the speed (4.68 – 40) to help at outside linebacker. Johnson has also been known to snare a few of Billy Edwards’ passes with the Bruins, which could add a new wrinkle to the Hawk offensive game plan.

Woodson (2021 OL/DL 6-4 260) was a first-team all-district and all-region defender for the Eagles, who were undefeated through most of 2019 before dropping out to Tuscarora in the Class 4 Region C finals. According to the announcement from Monmouth, the Hawks have Woodson slated to play on the D-line.
Reagan Russell Finds A New Home
Briar Woods defensive back and wide receiver Reagan Russell (2021 DB/WR 6-0 181) also made his college choice known, giving word of his commitment to the Bucknell Bison over Twitter last Friday.
With a 3.97 GPA and 1250 SAT’s, Russell was a favorite of the military academies, and received offers from Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Jaiven Plummer Hits the Big Five Trifecta
Episcopal athlete Jaiven Plummer (2022 WR 6-3 195) had a busy week, fielding three new offers, and all were from Big Five schools. Plummer’s official list of offers doubled from three to six as Boston College, Virginia Tech, and Rutgers entered into the mix of teams looking the multi-faceted athlete to their respective rosters.
Plummer, a Fredericksburg resident, who transferred from the successful Massaponax program, has good size and speed for the wide receiver position, having clocked a 10.95 and 22.50 in the 100 and 200 meters while running for the Panthers.
Stephen Daley adds Virginia Tech
This spring, John Handley defensive end Stephen Daley (2022 DE/TE 6-2 220) landed his first offer when UVA came calling. On Tuesday, defensive line coach Darryl Tapp extended an offer to Daley.
