The successful basketball career of Aziaha James will continue in the ACC.
On Saturday, James announced her verbal commitment to NC State via her Instagram account.
ESPN has James ranked as one of the top point guard prospects in the nation for the recruiting class of 2021. Here’s the latest review of James’ prowess on ESPN:
“Athletic left-handed combo-guard manufactures shots, splits defenders and attacks in mid-range game; changes pace in uptempo game, finishes plays to the rim in transition; a stock-riser in the class of 2021. … Rises on jumper in mid-range game and delivers with confidence; 1 on 1 creator, explosive off the dribble, finds the rim with regularity; tough to contain in open floor game, acrobatic to the rim.”

Basketball is in the blood for Aziaha. Older brother Ashley James was a star at Green Run and played last season at Fork Union in preparation for a college career at Missouri State. Ashley attended his sister’s VHSL Region 5A Championship win at Norfolk Scope, then died in an accidental shooting later that night.
Her brother’s death led Aziaha to tear through the competition in the VHSL state tournament, scoring 41 against Henrico in the quarterfinal round and 32 against Woodgrove in a semifinal win. The championship game was canceled and Princess Anne claimed a shared state title with Highland Springs this past season.
