Varina’s Quincy “Q” Jefferson (2021 WR/DB 6-3 175) recruitment is in full swing. In April, Jefferson picked up his first offer from Wingate University. A few months later, UVA-Wise became the second school to extend him an offer to play at the next level. Jefferson has secured additional offers from the Apprentice School, Averett, Catawba, Christopher Newport, and most recently Virginia State University.
In addition to his seven offers, Quincy has been in communication with several other programs. “I’ve been in contact with JMU, VMI, some other schools have been in contact with me. There have been a lot of coaches hitting me up saying the like my film and my size,” he explained.
When asked about what position he’s being primarily recruited at, Jefferson stated, “DB. Safety, corner. Some are recruiting me for safety, some are recruiting me for corner. Just depends on the school.
Last weekend, Jefferson was in attendance at the ASSIST Top 50 camp at Hermitage High School and won the camps Defensive MVP award. The week prior, he was at “The Clinic” camp, and at the end of August, he was in attendance at our Clash of the Titans II showcase. When asked about his time spent on the camp circuit, he stated, “It’s been great. Great competition, great people coming out from the 804, a lot of talent, and seeing where everybody is at. There’s a lot of underrated talent in the 804.”
Jefferson spent last season primarily as a backup contributor for the Region5B champs. However, when he got his chance to play, he made the most of it. Quincy notched 35 total tackles (10 assisted), 15 defended passes, five pass breakups, and a sack. On offense, he recorded five catches for 80 yards and one score.
Quincy’s senior season will be cut short due to COVID-19, but that has not stopped him from continuing to work on his craft. Expect to see his offer sheet continue to grow over the next several months and once the season kicks off in the spring.
