Greenbrier Christian running back and linebacker Caleb Rich had a coming out party of sorts at Saturday’s recruit757 College Prospect Assessment Camp.

We’ve seen him before. He was impressive enough to earn a selection as a Second Team defensive end as a freshman in the 2015 recruit757 All-Freshman/Sophomore teams. At the NUC Regional in Newport News last month, he was an MVP award winner. He continued to impress at Saturday’s event.
Rich (FR LB/FB 5-11 185) showed another dimension of skill as he ran routes and caught practically every ball thrown to him.
As a freshman, recruiting has yet to develop for Caleb, but he’s doing the work necessary to elevate himself and get some exposure. We caught up with him at the NUC event (see the video at the end of this article) and he caught us up on his progress.
“I gotta work on getting off the ball, gotta go quick. My footwork gets better every day,” Caleb said. “I’m probably going to be playing more offense than I did last year. Last year I only played a couple of games (on that side of the ball).”
This summer, Caleb has plans to visit Maryland, UNC, Virginia and Virginia Tech. As of now, he names UNC or Oregon as his dream schools and would pursue a major in Physical Therapy or Sports Medicine.
Caleb has a lot of football ahead of him before he heads off to college. Judging from his recent camp performances, he’s on the right track to gather interest from college coaches. At Greenbrier Christian, he might be a well kept secret, but that’s not going to last long. He’ll get more touches in the offense and see his name in the game recaps a whole lot more often this fall.
