James Madison was the first to offer Keshaun Moore, linebacker at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy. Dukes coach Bryan Stinespring fell in love with Moore’s athleticism and offered him not long after Stiney made the move from Virginia Tech to JMU. Now, Moore has a second scholarship offer for many of the same reasons.
NSA Head Football Coach Mike Biehl broke the news to us on Thursday night that Elon stopped by the school and offered Moore.
“(Assistant Coach Gerald Chatman) stopped by (Thursday) and had watched his film last week with their defensive staff. He said it was a no-brainer,” Biehl stated. “They love his instincts and size as well as his versatility. He could possibly play multiple position in their defense.”
Elon’s academic requirements for admission are a bit higher than the typical Division I school. Fortunately, Moore’s 3.3 GPA puts him on track for qualifying easily. He’ll take the SAT for the first time next month.
In addition to his offers from JMU and Elon, Moore (JR MLB 6-3 240) is pulling significant interest from William and Mary, Old Dominion, Coastal Carolina, UVA and Virginia Tech. Plans are being made now for him to visit all of those schools this summer.
Coach Biehl has been itching to get the football team together for more organized work. He explained that his players have been scattered all spring, but are ready to come together.
“Spring sports are just coming to an end for us. We’re gearing up for our off season which the team and I are really fired up for. We’re finally getting to work with our guys on a daily basis. That’s what I’ve been looking forward to for months now. It’s going to be great making it happen.”
