Offers keep rolling in for the Kecoughtan big man

“You’re not under recruited if you have an offer from a school. You are part of the two percent that have a chance to play college football,” stated Leon Lowery.
When this entire process started for Leon Lowery the most nerve racking part was waiting to see what would happen. At some point, Lowery got tired of waiting and started taking action. With the help of his family, the Kecoughtan coaching staff, and his diligence the rising senior is now walking around holding nine offers as of July 25. Lowery received offers eight and nine from Bluefield College and Winston-Salem State University. Bluefield is a NAIA school in the western part of the state, and WWSU is the first Division II offer for Lowery as he continues to remain humble, honest, and optimistic about his recruiting process.
“With Bluefield, I had the chance to get an offer from them in the past but there was a coaching change among the offensive line. I ended up losing contact with them. I had to contact another coach about getting the new coaches contact information because it wasn’t available online. I emailed him all of my information and told him that I was still interested. After he reviewed my film he told me to give him a call so I could talk to him. About a week later I got a call from them saying they really wanted me to play for them,” said Lowery.
Lowery continued: “With Winston-Salem, I emailed their head coach who directed me to the offensive line coach. After I contact him and talked for a while he ended up giving me an offer.”
Bluefield College was among one of the first programs to show interest in Lowery (SR OL 6-2 270 as they reached out to him in May. WSSU reached out to Lowery in mid-July and two weeks later sent him an offer. Lowery appears to be elated that he’s part of the two percent that will get to play football at the collegiate level. When it comes to being underrated, that’s a word that will never come out of his mouth when describing him as a football player. His main message for other student-athletes who are currently in the same situation he was in is stick with the process. As the Kecoughtan product gears up for the beginning of the season, he plans to focus more on the football side of the house. After he gathers enough film to put together a partial senior reel the process will pick right back up.
“My mindset is and always has been to put myself where I wanted to be. I don’t want my parents to have to pay for me to go to school. I also didn’t want to rely on someone else to do things I could’ve done for myself. I got my own transcripts so that if coaches asked for it I would be able to deliver. I never waited for coaches to do anything for me and I’m constantly initiating conversation with other coaches. I’ve gotten to where I want to be because I got up and started to put the work in,” added Lowery.
