When you have over 20 college offers, its pretty hard to get excited for every recruiting visits, hearing practically the same recruiting pitch. Bishop Sullivan sophomore Teradja Mitchell couldn’t have been any more excited to be in Blacksburg for the debut of new Virginia Tech head coach Justin Fuente at the Hokies’ annual spring game.
“{The spring game} was another great experience. I got a chance to see Coach Fuente in action for the first time. He’s really looking forward to changing the program around. The new coaching staff and I got to talk to some of the players that played in the national championship and are now businessmen. The same path that I would like to pursue. The defense also looked solid as usual. Coach Foster always has a great defense,” Mitchell said of the visit.
Prior to the Virginia Tech visit, Mitchell was one of several Bishop Sullivan players to participate at the Nike Opening Regional combine in Charlotte, NC. The sophomore earned rave reviews from national scouts in attendance who were impressed by his size, which combined with his ability cover in space make him an intriguing linebacker prospect with three-down ability.
Mitchell holds an offer from Hokies and previously visited Blacksburg for last year’s regular season showdown with Ohio State. No surprise that he holds an offer from the Buckeyes as well, and picked up his latest from Oklahoma recently. Auburn, Notre Dame and Michigan have also offered the 6-foot-2 Mitchell this offseason.
“I’m open to all schools right now. I won’t be narrowing my list anytime soon,” the All-American linebacker added.
