A member of the last two Greyhound state championship team, Davis averaged more than 20 points, seven rebounds and two blocks during the 2015-16 season. He earned first-team all-state honors following Norcom’s last-second win over Hopewell to capture the Group 3A state title. Indian River hires new boys coach
Indian River will welcome a new boys coach, former Oscar Smith assistant Kirk Overton, who will take over for last year’s head coach Chavez Mabry.
Formerly an assistant at Oscar Smith, Overton is a longtime physical education teacher at Indian River which played a large part in the school’s decision to hire him. He also previously served as junior varsity coach at Oscar Smith after leaving a previous stint at Indian River. Overton will try to resurrect a Braves program that missed the postseason in 2015.
