Recruiting in Williamsburg is hot too. This morning, Lafayette wing back Caleb Kraegenbrink picked up an offer from the United States Military Academy, otherwise known as Army, on Friday morning. He adds that opportunity to offers from Holy Cross and Navy.
Of course, playing at Army or Navy isn’t as simple as just accepting a scholarship. It involves more, including a letter of recommendation from a political official. Attending a service academy and playing football includes all of the responsibilities that an average cadet or midshipman would have.
It’s exciting to see players from Lafayette land major college football opportunities. Caleb’s offer falls on the heels of major news of teammate Hezekiah Grimsley adding a scholarship offer from East Carolina.
“They like the fact that he’s running the same thing here that he’d do there,” said Lafayette head coach Andy Linn.
At Lafayette, Linn coaches his team to run first from a Wing-T formation. Kraegenbrink is a solid and dependable wing back who gets lots of carries in Lafayette’s plodding and prolific offense. The Rams can score quickly, but can also play ball control and eat up clock.
Army, Navy and Holy Cross all implement an offense where Kraegenbrink would be a perfect fit.
