It’s a busy time at the Beach! Colleges near and far have visited the region this week, and two standouts from Landstown High School landed athletic scholarship offers to play football at East Carolina on Thursday.
Safety Joseph White (SO FS 6-2 175) picked up offers from North Carolina and North Carolina State on Tuesday after the team’s college workout day. Over 20 college coaches were in attendance and were impressed by White’s athleticism. White was a First Team All-757 Freshman-Sophomore selection for 2015.
Defensive end Julian Freeze (JR DE 6-1 195) is seeing his recruitment pick up as well. Freeze picked up a scholarship offer from East Carolina on Thursday.
“The college coaches like the size of both Joe and Julian,” said Landstown head coach Tommy Reamon on Thursday. “They like the guys’ quickness and agility. They’re tough. They see Freeze as an Eli Harold type.”
Eli Harold was a star defensive end at Ocean Lakes earlier this decade. He went on to play as a stand-up defensive end for the University of Virginia. Eli came out of college early and was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 2015. He’ll play his second season at linebacker for San Francisco this fall.
